Depending on the procedure, pre and post surgical pain medication is given. Pain is more than an unpleasant sensation or emotion, unrelieved pain can lead to harmful physical effects and may delay healing. Our policy is to control the pain of the pets in our care. We feel that no pet should suffer from unnecessary pain. Post surgical pain medication will be given by injection immediately following surgery and dispensed in the form of oral take home medication if indicated.
Although it can be done while your pet is awake, while your pet is asleep it is a good time to Microchip them. This is a permanent form of identification that is injected underneath the skin to enable lost pets to be recovered quickly, and is not an expensive procedure.
