ANESTHESIA
Sedation and anesthesia is necessary in small animal veterinary medicine for a number of procedures and diagnostics. Before any anesthetic procedure, your pet gets a complete preanesthetic physical exam along with complete preanesthetic laboratory work to ensure that you pet is a candidate for anesthesia. Intravenous catheter placement prior to any anesthesia is necessary for administration of intravenous fluid support from the onset of recovery through recovery.
At Shadow Lake Animal Hospital, we incorporate up to date continuous anesthetic monitoring techniques including ECG, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, electronic heart and respiration rate. Anesthesia used at Shadow Lake Animal Hospital is gas anesthesia used with modern and routinely serviced anesthesia equipment. For shorter procedures, safe and contemporary intravenous sedatives can be used in place of deep anesthesia
